Installation instructions

We want to be honest. We would love to provide you with multilingual installation instructions for every car spare part in our range today. Unfortunately, we are not (yet) able to do this, but we are constantly and emphatically appealing to the manufacturing industry to gradually build up this data structure and make it available. We can only imagine how much this would help you.

As you know, professional installation is a prerequisite for car spare parts - for your own safety. So if you are neither an experienced mechanic nor a trained vehicle technician, we ask you to visit your trusted workshop.

Principle: Professional installation is mandatory for car spare parts - for your safety and for warranty/product liability. If you are not an experienced mechanic or vehicle professional, please use the workshop of your choice.

1. Before installation: short checklist

  • Vehicle comparison: FIN/HSN-TSN, year of manufacture, engine code, equipment variants.
  • Compare old part with new part: Note dimensions, plugs, direction of rotation, grooves/boreholes.
  • Check surrounding attachment parts for wear/defects:
    • Cables: No cracks, kinks or leaks.
    • Sealing surfaces: Clean and undamaged.
    • Threads: Clean and not defective.
    • Corrosion: Rust or wear present?
    • Tools: Correct tools available?
  • Check whether teach-in, coding or calibration is necessary (e.g. sensors, steering, brakes, ADAS systems).
  • Consumables: New screws/expansion bolts, seals, O-rings, brake fluid, coolant, oil/ATF.
  • Safety aspects: Secure vehicle against rolling away, disconnect battery if necessary.
  • Documentation: Keep service/repair guide or manufacturer's instructions to hand.

2. During installation: best practices

  • Cleanliness first: Keep the work surface clean and tidy
  • Observe torques: Adopt values from the manufacturer, observe sequence, tighten brackets precisely.
  • Hoses and cables: Avoid chafe marks and kink radii, use clips.
  • Check electrics: Engage plugs firmly and check for leaks.
  • Replace in pairs: (e.g. for brakes/shock absorbers)
  • Supplement: Do not use excessive force when fitting spare parts

3. After installation: function & safety check

  • Teach electronic system if necessary (e.g. throttle valve, sensors, etc.).
  • Check for leaks (oil, coolant, fuel, vacuum)
  • After installation: inspect everything and check for functionality.
  • Risk:If the service indicator is reset incorrectly, this can affect the long-term performance of the vehicle or even lead to problems

Examples: Typical additional work per assembly

  • Brake system: Clean/grease guides, correct piston reset, brake fluid/bleeding.
  • Sensors/electrics: Check earth points, power supply, delete fault memory after installation.
  • Transmission parts: Check oil level correctly
  • Exhaust system: Replace seals, suspensions and clamps

Documentation & Warranty

  • Keep: Proof of purchase, installation/test log, photos of the installation/sealing surfaces/plugs, measured values (e.g. resistance, pressure), OBD readout log.
  • Why? Speeds up complaints and protects your warranty claims.
  • Only use approved products and comply with installation instructions, otherwise you may lose your claims.
  • Read through the installation instructions and observe the warnings!

Expert advice & support

Do you need help? Our specialist advisors are there for you - before, during and after installation.

  • Contact us: Telephone & e-mail (workshop support)

  • Services: Parts match based on FIN/HSN-TSN, installation instructions, torques/tightening series (if available), instructions for training/calibration, tool recommendations.

  • SLA: First response on the same working day, complex cases usually < 10 h.

FAQ - Quickly & simply explained

Do I need coding/calibration for part X?

It depends on the part (e.g. ABS sensors, steering systems, ADAS, fuel injection). Our specialist advisors will tell you exactly what is needed.

We deliver when available. Alternatively, use the workshop information system/manufacturer data.

Use the vehicle finder + FIN/HSN-TSN. If you are unsure: contact us briefly - we will check the match.

Read out fault memory, check mounting points, teach-in/calibrate if necessary. If unsure: Contact support.

Only if you are an expert. Otherwise, please contact a workshop - this is safer and relevant for the warranty.
